Angelic Peace

Angelic Peace Mosaic

My First Commercial Commission

“Angelic Peace” was created for the INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. The piece is 3 X 5 feet and hangs permanently in the chapel.

The mosaic was made to honor two employees that worked on the pre-surgical floor who passed away. There are pieces of a saucer incorporated into the wing that belonged to one of the women. All the materials except for her dress are recycled materials: there are pieces of plates, cups, tiles and beach glass. The dark blue is from a bowl in honor of a friend’s son who died while it was being created. She gave me the bowl months ago to use in my mosaics and I decided to work it into the artwork. It is my hope that the angel will give comfort and peace to those that visit the hospital chapel.

If you are local and want to see the mosaic, go to the back of the hospital by the emergency room entrance. The chapel is the half round building. Enter through the hall just inside the waiting room.
